Practical, personal lessons built around your interests, your level and the kind of musician you want to become.
One-to-one guitar lessons, tailored to you. Whether you're picking up the guitar for the first time, returning after years away, or looking to take your playing further, we'll build a musical path around your interests and goals.
Guitar is the main focus of my teaching. Most of my work is centered around helping students become confident, expressive guitarists while developing the musical understanding that supports their playing.
Electric guitar is my main instrument and the primary focus of my guitar teaching. We can work on everything from learning your favourite songs and developing solid technique to improvisation, tone, effects and finding your own sound.
We can explore chords, rhythm, scales, technique, improvisation, ear training and learning songs. The focus is always on practical playing, so that what you learn can immediately be applied to the guitar.
I offer one-to-one electric guitar lessons in Rotterdam and online, for beginners as well as more experienced players. You can start from the basics or use the lessons to take your existing playing further.
We can explore different styles including Jazz, Blues, Rock, Pop and Singer-Songwriter music. If you have particular artists or songs you enjoy, we can use those as a starting point.
If you're interested in electric guitar, we can also explore effects, pedals, tone and the different sounds you can create with your instrument.
You don't need to know exactly what you want to learn. We'll figure that out together and build a musical path that fits your level, interests and goals.
Steel-string acoustic guitar lessons for players who want to learn songs, develop rhythm and chord technique, improve their playing and become more comfortable with the instrument.
Lessons can focus on strumming, chords, rhythm, fingerstyle, songs, technique and musical understanding, depending on your goals and experience.
Whether you're a complete beginner or already have some experience, we can build the lessons around the music you enjoy and the areas you want to improve.
We can work on chord changes, strumming, rhythm, fingerstyle, picking and learning songs while developing a strong musical foundation.
Guitar is at the center of my teaching, but music can take many different directions. These lessons can be explored separately or combined with guitar, depending on what you want to learn and create.
I also offer electric bass lessons for beginners and players up to an intermediate level. We can work on technique, groove, rhythm, scales, songs and developing a solid foundation on the instrument.
Bass lessons focus on developing a strong sense of rhythm and groove while becoming comfortable with the instrument. We can learn songs, work on technique, explore scales and understand how the bass fits together with drums, guitar and the rest of a band.
If you're a beginner, we can start from the basics. If you've already been playing, we can work on strengthening your technique, timing and musical understanding.
Explore the creative side of guitar through pedals, effects and music production. Experiment with sound, discover new possibilities and learn how technology can become part of your musical expression.
The electric guitar is incredibly versatile, and effects such as reverb, delay, distortion and many others can completely transform its sound. We can explore how these effects work and how to use them creatively, both with physical guitar pedals and software.
We can also explore music production and the creative possibilities of Ableton Live. This can include recording, effects, sound manipulation and using software as part of your musical process.
These lessons can be taken separately from guitar lessons or combined with your guitar and music studies.

Understand how music works and develop the musical skills that support your playing, creativity and confidence.
Music theory doesn't have to be complicated or purely academic. We can explore harmony, chords, scales, rhythm and song structure in a practical way, always connecting the ideas to music and the instrument.
We can also work on ear training, listening and understanding what you hear in music. The aim is to help you recognise musical patterns and understand why music works the way it does.
These skills can also be applied directly to composition and songwriting. We can develop musical ideas, work with melody, harmony, form and arrangement, and explore different ways of turning an idea into a complete piece.
Whether you're interested in understanding the music you play, improving your improvisation, writing your own music or simply becoming a more complete musician, we can adapt the lessons to your goals.
Prepare for conservatory auditions and develop the playing, musical and theoretical skills needed for further study.
Preparing for a conservatory audition is about more than learning a few pieces. It is an opportunity to develop your musicianship, strengthen your technique and become more confident in expressing yourself as a musician.
Drawing from my own experience studying Jazz Guitar at Maastricht Conservatorium and completing my Master of Music at Codarts Rotterdam, I can help you prepare for the different aspects of a conservatory entrance process.
Depending on the programme and your goals, we can work on repertoire, improvisation, technique, harmony, ear training, rhythm, reading and music theory.
We can prepare audition repertoire together, identify areas that need attention and create a focused practice plan leading up to the audition.
The aim is not simply to prepare you for an audition, but to help you become a stronger, more independent and more confident musician who is ready for the demands of conservatory study.
I'm Michalis, a guitarist, composer and music producer based in Rotterdam. I've been studying, performing and creating music for many years, and I love helping other people discover their own way of making music.
I studied Jazz Guitar at the Maastricht Conservatorium and completed my Master of Music at Codarts Rotterdam. Over the years I've performed with different musicians and projects, while developing my own work as a composer, producer and educator.
My teaching is relaxed, personal and adapted to each student. Whether you're picking up the guitar for the first time, returning to it after years away, or looking to take your playing and musicianship further, we'll work together towards your goals.
Guitar is at the center of my musical life, but I'm interested in the wider picture too — sound, composition, improvisation, production and the creative possibilities that come from understanding your instrument.
